I was told some pickups have cab air filters under the glove compartment. I took off a black cover and now I can't find the filter. There is a big black box that I am guessing that the filter is in. Does anyone have any ideas how to get to it. Maybe it doesn't have one. It is a 2003 F-150 SuperCrew King Ranch if that info. is needed.
Thanks for all the input

I removed the black cover from under the glove box and see the bottom of the filter. However, there is no 'tab' or anything to grab so that I can remove and replace it. Any ideas? I'm sure that I can rig something if no one knows the trick to removing the cabin filter.
If the black cover was held on with about 6 screws, then you probably have removed the proper piece and DO have the very rare cabin filter. There should be a convoluted black metal piece that the cover attaches to. The bottom of the filter (on mine at least) is a white, somewhat flexible plastic. If you get upside-down down there, it should be obvious. If the tab is gone, you should be able to pull it down using two long-nosed pliers. You might wreck it, but you're replacing it anyway. Mine is always difficult to pull down, yours might be almost impossible if it's been there for years. Good luck.
