Hey, I just had a brainfart! Just in case this topic hasnt been covered(enough), in this forum, howabout we list local junkyards in the area, some may be old to few, but new to some. You're more'n welcome to voice your opinion on said yard as well.
If at all possible give location, and a contact #
A few that roll off the top of my head are...
Baughmans of York, they have a 2nd "classic car" junkard in Strinestown neat old yard. #717 846 3944
Criswell's in Little Britain, the guys a Ford Truck person, sometimes that good/bad. Another neat OLD yard #717 529 2612? not sure on the number as they are unlisted. 13 Robert's Rd
Hofferts Used Auto Parts another old yard
418 Swissdale Rd
Bernville, PA 19506-8348
(610) 488-1577
Collis Truck Parts in Seemsville (north of Allentown) is where I always find whatever I'm looking for truck related. They have a web site but I don't remember what it is, if you google their name I'm sure site would be there. Their phone # is (610) 837-1232.
i like harrys in hazleton i dont have the number or address but you see it right from I 81
I been to Harry's...thats a big yard, bring a lunch, some breadcrumbs, and time..
Id like to know if/when they're gonna have another $.99 day. I was able to get to one a few years back, and guys were pulling short blocks for a buck! motors with carbs/steering pumps/alter. ect were being charged .99, plus .99 for each accessory, Hoods, doors you name it .99 cents! It was wild...
i hear harrys has several yards around PA i never made the 99cent sale but i walked out of there with a hood for my kids car for like $10 and that was great for me!
If you need parts for old ford trucks 1947-1980 give Robert Platt auto wreckers a call they have tons of stuff some prity solid. there number is 724-455-3878
Well now fellers I've not been around lately..forgive me for that. I just had to jump in on this thread and tell ya'll a story. First off..Triple Nickel Auto Parts at 2956 Lincoln Way West, Chamberburg..that's the place! The 800 number is 1-800-933-8627. Folks ya'll wouldn't believe the service and prices. Mind ye...some time back I heard a grinding noise coming from the left front hub of my 1995 Chevy Astro AWD...yes I know it's not a Ford..but listen up. I took it into Hicks Chev. in Greencastle and the next day Rick (the service manager) called me and told me the splines was torn out of the hub..I needed a new hub. I figgered a coupl'a bucks..eh? How about OVER $1000.00 for a new one from G.M.!!! N.A.P.A.'s price for a rebuilt..about $800.00!!! After the para-medics ressusitated me I called Triple Nickle. (Rick, the service manager at Hicks Chev. gave me the number..) $50.00 is what Triple Nickle charged me for a pristine and clean left front hub. Fifty Dollars! Am I a happy man! You betcha! I could'a kissed Rick square on the lips for that tip. Instead he got a $100.00 tip (should have been more but money was tight at the time..) and a lifetime supply of fresh donuts from my bakery. Good service and good prices...both from Triple Nickle and Hicks Chev. of Greencastle. Nuff' said. Audie..the oldfart...
Hey, does any one know of any Junk yards or recyling yards in PA that would have Semi-Trucks? I want to find some used smoke stacks from a big rig and chop them down and put'em on my truck. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
There is one that I know of just north of Duncansville on old RT 22 called Nagles. I can't find a ph#. You might also try Burchfield truck also in Duncansville. The ph# is 814-695-4446

Wow, if Im ever in the area, I'll have to hunt this place down 'n give it a looksee
Ever "look" for junkyards, Ive used a couple of the satelite map sites, and found yards I didnt know where there, one example is a yard near Goldsboro, York county PA, I was just scanning along looking for a friends new house, and lo n behold theres a yard! heres the image from 555 Auto
Another good one is Hazelton Scrap. Not a big selection, but nothing is picked over.
Plus my neighbors work there, so when I need something, they put it aside for me.
And you pay by the pound for just about everything you get there.
