Well its a extreme pain in the rear, but can be done. Heres how I did it: Lay on the engine, get one of your hands back there with the correct size wrench and use the box side so you dont strip it off. It takes a while but it will come out. Be sure its sprayed many times with some kind of penetrating fluid. I cant remember which hand I used or from what side of turbo but you gotta go in between the firewall and the up pipes. Ive herd of someone using a 1/4 ratchet with universal joint, but im not sure.

I apreciate the help, i got the left rear pedistal bolt out with a wrench so i think like cuda jim 's web link said is i'll have to go with the 1/4" drive for the right rear pedistal bolt i will let u know how it worked. Thanks again, Joe.
97, check out my post from a few weeks ago on turbo removal/install. i did a full write up. the way i removed it was to undo the 4-10mm bolts under the pedistal to avoid having to the the back bolt on the pedistal with the turbo on. if you need to change the o-rings on the pedistal, you can remove it after the turbo is off. if you cant find the post, pm me and ill email you the full write up with pictures.
I have pulled my turbo no less than four times and the BEST tool for the driverside rear pedestal bolt is a flex 10mm socket that Sears has on the end of two 3 inch 1/4 drive extensions. It is the perfect length and angle. You can really make it easy with a 1/4 drive thumb driver on the end, once they are loose. Good luck, it is a PITA, but it will come.
Thanks alot all of you. I appreciate all of your tips. but if you havent yet, check out cuda jims link. once i checked that out i had the drivers side rear bolt out in less than 3 minutes. All and all my turbo removal was very similar to that link on cuda jims post. Not a bad job onc instructed properly. So once again thanks alot.
