Im wondering what yalls suggestions are for shocks with the heavy 7.3 up front.
I have a 2" level lift, so I assume the front shocks will have to be a little longer up front. Anyone know exactly what length I will need?
i am also in the market for new shocks, went around the local area stopped in at autozone they have blisten shocks there that ill be buying cause they are cheaper there then online not sure what series they are though it was just the single tube no resivour
Lots of people really like Bilstein shocks. I run them on my rock crawler and they seem to get the job done.
IMO you won't really notice a difference between stock and Bilsteins unless you really rally the **** out of your truck. If you're always hot footing it around corners and pitching it sideways then you'll probably like the stiffness of the bilstiens. Most people run 5100 series without the res.
Whatever you do, stay away from the super cheap Kragen, Pep Boys, Autozone shock deals. Those are the ones that normally perform poorly.
I swapped over to Edelbrock IAS shocks in the front, replacing my 140,000mi factory shocks. Not much of a difference. The new ones are RED, that's about it.
I feel that suspension ride comes down the the springs you're running, not the shocks.

I agree with above.. I really did not notice much difference after installing Bilsteins after using the stock shocks since new... They do smooth out the ride somewhat but i guess was expecting more..
