Has anyone used this product on the downstream o2 sensor? Looking to runs duals, but i need to get rid of the 3rd cat to do so? If anyone has ran this setup on a 1996 f-150 351w 4x4 without any troubles let me know.
The o2 sensor is a necessary part of the EFI system - it's heavily relied upon to determine lean/rich and without you will experience less power and more fuel consumption because the EEC is going to "make guesses" since it's missing information. Also, you'll get "codes" and your check engine light will illuminate.
What you can do is install the o2 sensors on one side of the exhaust system. While you're only monitoring 1/2 the engine at that point, that's better than not having them at all.
hes talking about replacing the o2 after the cat with this item the o2 after the cat does not detect lean and rich just the quality of the air after the cats
I've been doing alot of reading and calling on this issue, The reason for the duals is i bought a new pair of edelbrock heads and i've been on the phone with them and there the ones who told me to run true duals. They said if you don't the heads won't breathe like they should. The guy on the phone is the one who was telling me about the downstream o2 sensor and how to by-pass it with the simulator.
i made my own and have been running them for 2+ years. here is the sight you can do it yourself for under 10 bucks. a friend of mine has a muffler shop here in metairie La. he has been using them on customers cars and trucks i build them for him and he install's them. haven hada ny complaints yet. also truck runs the same as it dos with them with no check engine light.
