Well the UPS guy should be bringing me my shaft seal fo my 16HP Briggs vertical shaft engine that is in my John Deere 116 riding mower. The engine is out of the mower awaiting the seal. I have a pretty good idea as to how this needs to be installed. But I was wondering if I am right. So how would you guys do it?

id get a brass bunch and tap it in and or a peice of pipe just larger than the shaft. make sure to tap it in even and slowly so you dont damage the seal
pull that key off so u dont have to work around it, and then reinstall it
u should be able to tell by if its flat with the top of the seat. it will also not move. you dont have to crack it down in the hole all that hard. just get it relativly close and you will be fine
