i have an 80 f100 i just picked up with a carbed 302 in it, 9in rear, its a 3 speed with manual brakes and manual steering, now the clutch is a setup iv never seen its moved by a few rods connected to the pedal. my questions are as follows, does any one know if i can just put a booster and hook up the vacumme to it and have power brakes? can i find the steering box and pump and have ps? biggest question can i put any 5 speed in it from a ford, obviously if its hydraulic id have to add that system id have to install the other stuff for it, but what about a t-5 form a stang cause its cable actuated how bad would that be to put in, cause with the speed on the high way that thing sucked the gas down, if i went with the t-5 which would be fine wold i need to change the clutch and flywheel or no. help would be great.

That's the way all the older cars and trucks were. I believe what you need to do is perform a search on the internet, looking for a T5 swap in an older mustang. This is a very popular swap, and may help you on the small details. I do know the older mustang guys have the same dilemma with the clutch linkage, and they have two different methods to to solve it.
The only problem you may have is with the shifter. It's going to be short. You might be able to modify this yourself, or maybe someone has an idea of what to do about it. You sit way higher in a truck than in a mustang. You do have some 4 speed overdrive options that were made for your truck, along with a later model mazda built 5 speed with overdrive that was made for these trucks. I believe the zf 5 speed would be too heavy a tranny for what you want to do.
can just put a booster and hook up the vacumme to it and have power brakes?
What I would do about the power brakes is get the booster with the master cylinder attached. Usually the master cylinder is different for the power brakes, and has a smaller bore to make the brakes easier to push, since they are not power. I believe you can buy them in the store this way too, with the booster and the master cylinder already mated together. Do you have drum brakes all the way around or disc up front? That will make a difference in what master cylinder you need too. Hopefully they made a drum system with power brakes, but I am not sure about that in 1980.
can i find the steering box and pump and have ps?
Yes, just bolt in the power steering box and go. You will probably have to change the pulleys onthe front of the engine though, to have enough belts to run the pump.
So with discs up front, it should be easy to drop in the booster/master cylinder combo. If you want to make sure about what master cylinder to use, and to make sure there is a difference(no need to waste money), go to www.partsamerica.com and punch in your year truck. Then look up the brake parts and see if the master cylinder has the same part number or different number for a manual vs power system.
ill check into that. im thinking about just putting an auto in it, would the aod fit with out any modification other than the flex plate and speed sensor?
The tranny may be a different length, so the driveshaft may have to be modified. You would have to do some junkyard measuring to figure it out. Then you need a different radiator with a the tranny lines going to it. And you would also have to modify or swap in the correct carb with the AOD throttle cable linkage. That tranny didn't have a vacuum modulator, the cable controls all the shifting, and is very important to get right.
ill check the lengths, it has an edelbrock crb, so can i just find the cable and get it. ill add an external trans cooler, but the radiator has the transcooler built in, must have been replaced. thanks for all the help.
You might be able to order a kit from edelbrock to fit the cable to the carb. If you get the tranny from a junkyard, try to get the cable with it. Otherwise you will have to get a new cable from the parts store.
