I was under my 04 auto and noticed the front of the tranny pan between the engine and trans, was slighty wet with tranny fluid. The gasket was damp at the front. No drops on the ground yet. The fluid was coming from between the pan and the trans, not the rear main seal. Anyone know the torque values for the trans pan bolts?? I took a socket and tightened them a bit, they didnt seem very snug. No recent trans work. Am I fine with them snugged down a bit, or do i risk something warping because i didn't torque them to an exacting value? Thanks!
all my rangers have the 4.0... I can't seem to fit my tq wrench around the guard... There is some sort of guard that is clipped on on the bottom, but i won't come off or move...
*Re the torque wrench, how often should it calibrated? Mine is a snap on... Are those pretty accurate?
My 99 was delivered with the tranny pan weeping, Dealer had the Tech retorque the pan fastners, fixed her right up.
The torque numbers for the 5R55E 13mm pan bolts are 96-120 inch/pounds, or 8-10 f/lbs.
The OEM gasket is a reuseable type, so it should respond to re-torquing ok, just do it in a balanced, side to side, staggard, pattern & don't over torque!!!!!!
