I never had to worry about my egts getting over 1100 even on the highest chip position. But then again, spinning tires in sand isn't that hard of work for a motor. I saw 20-25psi boost like never before. My trans-temp was the only concern seeing it climb over 200 pretty quick. Stock trans cooler needs to go...
When in sand, you really have to give the tires pudgy cheeks like they say. But make sure to bring a spare or some starting fluid (not recomended). Also mark your tires to where they sit on the rim, so if they do come off you don't have to re-balance your tire.
My little brother took a turn driving and kindly removed a tire for me. I had never seen a tire come completly off the rim and roll next to a truck. I was with a crew of about 10 younger auto engineer guys, and before I turned the truck off, they were jacking my truck up and on that tire like flies on...
I also liked how I popped open the hood and the engineer guys all swarm around the motor. Even though they are mainly Bosch/Duramax/Cummins employed, they thought the engine was the coolest thing with the big air fliter, turbo and such. My friends Duramax could smoke my truck all day in HP, but the engineer guys all thought my truck was super modded and more powerfull because of the looks and mean sound of a open exhaust powerstroke. They also never got to drive it to find out. Our little secret.
Thanks again to Tj for the tips and looking out' for me. I'm going to have to ask you for a "ski report" next time I go up there. That place changes like crazy. Good times!
And thanks all for "listening", my lady fell asleep on me while rambling about my trip.
