Rod Problems...Rebuild?
I've been restoring a 68 f100. I think that I am about to throw a rod. I got an estimate to rebuild my engine for $1300. I thought as long as I'm getting this work done I should get it bored out. Has anyone done this? What should I ask the shop to do. Any other preformance upgrade that should be done now and not later. Somebody said get pop-up pistons!?! What are they and how will they increase power, and at what price? I want to get a 4 barrel Carb, Is that the best thing to do for the money. Please tell me how much it would cost for upgrades. I know the carb's gonna cost about $500 right? How much to do the engine work if I get this thing bored. What kind of power am I looking at. Help me out I want to get this truck show ready by next summer. Thanks. By the way my goal is to do some serious burnouts...How can I achieve this...

Before you go blow your cash on something new, I have a 300-6 with all the goodies for sale. Offey intake, Holley 2BBL(plenty of carb for 5500 rpm), dual manifolds, 240 head ported and polished, etc.
