its starting to look like the peeps in regen, be it active of passive are taking the milage hits.

no regen = good milage trucks

constant regen = bad milage truck.

im begining to see a clear pattern.

I have only noticed two regens in 2000 + miles, my mileage sucks. So I guess my regens are passive.

2008 Lousy Mileage

I just purchsed a 2008 F-350 6.4, 3.73 Quad Cab and am getting 9.2 mpg. I only have 250 miles on it and this was around town. Hoping it will improve in time.

"oh, this is great mileage for a truck this size", come on, what- you want your cake and eat it too.

I'm going to absolutely puke on the next guy who say's anything like that. I traded off a better ride than the one I got, sure this ones new...so was the other one at this same point. mpg's were 15-16 consistant, 12 is Friggin BS, and that's Granpa Driven

Sorry, I have a bad attitude about my $50K Fuel gluttenhog. Salesman said they were getting 14-15mpg's....I bought that crap too.

Yeah I bought the same line of bull from the dealer also, just pissed at myself for not researching the real world numbers first. My truck sucks diesel down too, especially towing my camper, 8 mpg there. With my 03 Dodge and a 4K heavier trailer I was getting a solid 11-12 mpg.

I don't blame the manufacturer for the crummy milage. I blame the EPA for forcing the diesel truck builders to adopt emission controls ridiculously stringent, to satisfy the "Green Planet" hysteria dumped on us by politicians who don't know their *** from a hole in the ground. I don't think any diesel pickup manufactured after 07 will ever legally produce the milage of the past.

on the topic of mileage, i spoke with a dealer on the weekend who stated that all the '08 6.4l trucks that he's sold, they take a big jump in MPG after 20000 kilometers, or 12500 miles. i'm a gasser just being a parrot, but he said those trucks were now getting in the high-mid 20's from 10-14 mpg. might be something to look forward to.

Mine has jumped in the other direction, I was getting 17hwy empty@round 8,000 miles. @ 11,000 I'm getting 9 in town and 12 hwy empty. I think I will be taking a trip to my freindy ford dealer soon.
If someone has successfully removed a DPF I would like to know about it.

Give me some reason to believe this....50-100% increases, I don't recall reading any post of these monumental increases...I sure would remember that.

Maybe I should of bought a 6.4 from him...he's got the magic beans.

Wow, some of these salesmen will say anything to make a sale. High-mid 20's? Not even in the 7.3.

yes talk is cheap. When I had my v10 all the diesel guys said 12 towing 18mty. That was the standard myth. Sure towing 8,000# at 50mph on a flat stretch with 3.73's and mty on a flat stretch. Oh ya, was a standard cab srw with 2 wheel drive. That is the great thing about this site, people can get the real honest truth. I did improve from 11.6 mty before towing over 2,000 miles. now that it is broken in averaging 13.4 hand calculated. towing 16650# this summer for over 2,000 miles was 8.76. Given the choice I would buy this truck again hands down. I bought it for towing and work.
