I just make a small hole with a punch at the
boot at the steering column
once the wire is where I want it and tied down
I seal the penetration with butyl rubber compound
You can get rubbers plug/groment for after you drill hole . install plug there in hole you made and there is thing spot in middle that you can make hole in and run wires through. Or like said run in alone one of other penetrations. Later
is'nt there already plugged holes that are just waiting to be used?
I mean my 89 f250 has a couple on the fire wall that i used to route the coax for my cb.
Thanks guys for all answers. I'm looking for some kind of connector, because in my previous truck, I have installed a lot of wires through a rubber boot without connector, but after a mayor damage to my passenger cab, I hab to replace it, so I have to cutt all wires also.
I really prefer some kind of water pack connector or somenthing similar, I need to pass some low current wires but some AWG #10 also...
Marine parts stores will have waterproof pass throughs. Shops that work on outboards and boats will have that type too. Be prepared to pay......the word "marine" usually triples the price........sorta like the words "Ford dealer"

Any more ideas?
I was thinking the same thing for some wiring I'm going to run on my truck. All I need are low current wires so I was going to use a 4-flat trailer connector. Cheap and easy solution, get a trailer wiring kit and use the short end for the inside cab wiring, the long end for engine compartment to wearever. Pass the wires from the engine compartment through whatever hole/grommet you choose, so the connection is in the engine compartment.
I don't know what you could do for the AWG #10 wires. I don't know if they have fully insulated butt or spade connectors for wires that big, but you could use them and fill with dielectric grease to make it 'waterproof'.
Bad news... I did order some connectors to Route66 supply one month back and until now I did not receive any answer, no products, no phone number to call, several no answered emails, etc etc...
Anyone have some more ideas about connector providers...?
Your truck is an auto, Right? If so, you can unbolt the plate they use to cover the Clutch master cylinder hole, thats how I ran my amp power wire and such. and its alot easy to drill a hole in something thats off the truck.
I had to run some wires to test some subs and amps out, so I ran the wires under the truck and then into a drain plug under the carpet, Just had it like that for a day to so. But yea just use some male and female spade conncetors where the wire passes through the firewall. They sell waterproof ones also. Then silicole the hole up once your done.
