I have an 01 V-10 EX 114K and when I drive it it sometimes will idle around 1200+R's. This is after comming to a stop sign or red light I almost rear-ended someone tonight..............Is this a common thing and are there any easy fixes? I did a search but the results were vague at best!!
this sounds stupid but make sure yer not touching the throttle with the side of yer foot when braking. this has happened to me and my dad a few times in our 08 f350's. ya can't even tell yer touching it. but i almost missed a driveway and went into a ditch cuz i couldn't make the turn lol.
My hunch is a failing IAC, but thats just a WAG. How long have these symptoms been going on? Is it any harder to start than it used to be?
Isaac
its not hard to start but has been like that since I have owned it which has only been about 5 weeks and it does not do it all the time .......................IAC is this something that is an easy fix and what is WAG??
I thought about my foot hitting the pedals having a size 16 shoe its possible BUT it idles high like that if I get out of the truck
haha WAG = Wild A$$ Guess. Anyway, I just thought it might be the Idle Air Control (IAC), but generally, when that fails, the trucks are very difficult to start (Won't idle until warmed up), but this doesn't sound like your situation. Other than that, I'm going to have to defer to more knowledgeable people on this forum. Hopefully it will be something cheap like a dirty MAF or something. :-)
I was going to clean the MAF but didn't want to screw it up and was looking for some insight on the correct way to do it.............................the WAG I guessed right then!!!
