Do any of you know if there is a replacement drive shaft c-v for the front d/s that is smaller o/d than the factory spicer unit, changed out t-case for a np205 and the d/s is now hitting the tranny
Gotta look through some old stuff to find the actual diameter of the entire 1310 assembly. I do believe you have the small joint already. I am a little more famliliar with the bronco. The 78 ahd a 1310, and the 79 had the 1330 series.
My 78 F150 :351m c6 tranny, 203 t-case, replaced with a 205, hp44 with locker, 9 inch in rear with full spool, 4 inch add a leaf springs in rear with shackels and moved under frame, Cage front springs and shock towers, Cage extended radius arms.I know the next sounds bad it has a 85 S-10 Blazer body on the chasis.I have three kids beside my wife that loves to ride also. The body was trashed so I really had no choice.
There you are, I was just looking for you, and wondering if you have resolved this same problem, I guess no, huh?
I know my idea isn't fool proof, but I think it 'might' work for a while.....
If I knew I'd work, I would of tried it a while ago.
The only thing I'd need to make it work would be a 1310 front yoke and maybe some longer grade 8 bolts to connect the driveshaft....(I'd need to put it together to see what I need for sure first).

I was ay an event and saw the use of a double cardan at both ends.
Yes, I had to rub my eyes too, I actually saw a double cardan on two ends of the d-shaft. The reason was because of an extreme "compound" angle. It seemed to work, and the guy beat it pertty hard, so your idea might just work.
To me, something does not seem right about it, but that probably has more to do with the fact we have never seen it used this way before.
I am very interested to see if this is possible, and if it will survive this way.
I have recently heard of double CV joints also(someone that custom made one him self anyway).
I have seen some people that don't know what they were doing and put the rear driveshaft in opposite(w/ CV at axle end), and run their trucks like that, and it seemed to 'work'. How well, I guess I need to find out!
Now I just need to find a front 1310 yoke(anyone have any ideas, other than new)? There aren't much of any 4wd trucks around this era in my area.
Would a 1310 yoke from a t case work? Now that I think about it, there are different spline counts.
Not knowing your area much, I might say you may have a tough time finding the yoke you need used, and may have to find a new one.
Anyway, I am going to stop by and talk to Steve tomorrow at J.E.Reel. They build all of my shafts (and have for years). I will ask about the "double double" issue, and ask about the use of the regular old "double" used backwards, and any problems associated with it.
Worth a shot anyway.
