So I have had a few hiccups the last couple of weeks only one of which the truck died (started right back up), checked the wiring harness on the VC and bent the bracket up, truck hiccuped 3 times after taht on three different days.
Probably the CPS or maybe undercover VC harness, but here is the kicker, the only time it hiccups is right at 1/2 tank on the fuel gauge. It will hiccup once and once it did it twice. I have run 3 tanks (8 days) since the last hiccup.
so what do y'all think? Go ahead and change the CPS? I know it threw codes twice but haven't been able to get it anywhere to read them. Truck is running great no other issues and still in the 16 to 18 mpg range.

Ya.. i would change out the cps to the new grey design, less than $25.. see: http://fordparts.com/cart/?pn=F7TZ-1...&submit=Search
Just curious... how do you know the engine is throwing codes? Did the SES light come on?
Yes the ses light came on and stayed on until I shut down and restarted,
I already have the CPS in the glove box, just waiting (foolishly maybe) till it shows a more pronounced sign. Ant chance that these hiccups could be an injector getting cleaned??? I don't know if the previous owner used DK or not so I have been putting in 16 oz a tank for the past 5 or 6 tanks.
if a were you i would put CPS and than i would see what happens, unless you can get the codes scaned we cannot say what your ses was caused by,
but you have to have good scaner to do it, like Draler or AE.
Check the filter in your fuel bowl. I used DK for several months, 2000 miles on a brand new filter and then had a few hiccups myself. I checked the filter after draining the fuel bowl. It was nasty. I must have had a bunch of crappy diesel in the tank when I bought it in April.
After the filter change, I've had no other problems.
