New cruiser

We just got some new unmarked F-350's as cruisers at my department. (I don't want to say the name, but we are in Northern Virginia) These trucks are amazing! They will put the Crown Vic to shame in a drag I was talking to one of the Ofc's that was assigned to one and was shocked to hear that he allows it to idle as if it was any other cruiser. I wanted to smack him right there! The cruisers are running for an entire 12 hr shift and idle sometimes as much as 50% of the shift. When I explained the probelms of letting his cruiser idle that long, he just shrugged me off and said it was the county's problem.

What kinda lighting is in the grill? That TIR3 doesn't blend very well on the front quarter panel.

I can't stand idiots who think like your Ofc. The "oh well, not my problem" actually is his problem. If he runs the truck into the ground, a.) he's out a nice work truck, b.) the city has to pay more in maintainence, c.) the tax payers pick up the tab, d.) he should be a tax payer so he is essentially paying for his laziness.

Or Battalion Chief has a F250 6.0L. That thing idles quite a bit when they are making rounds or are on scene. I'm thinking about hooking up the high idle mod in there just to save what life is left in the thing.

high idle and changing the oil by hours instead of miles will be beneficial.. we have a expedition at a local PD and we alread had to replace the engine. They only changed the oil by 5,000 mile and would require 2 quarts every 1,000 mile sor so, but we installed an hour meter when we warranteed the engine and they brought in in at 7,000 mile sfor the first oil change and were complaining again about oil concumption, were read the hour meter and had over 450hrs on it. ford used 32 miles/engine hr and that equals 14,400 miles of run time..

I agree, but my department is so big that they really don't care. We have about 5 of these at my station alone. Last time I heard, my Captain said the department has about 25 of these things. Thats not including all the other unmarked toys we have.
