Hi, i just bought a 1988 Ford F250 3/4 ton truck from this guy and he pulled the EFI motor and all of the computer stuff out. The truck has a 351 W carb in it, but my problem is the transmission. Im not sure if it is the right one. The tranny is pletty strong enough but it dose not shift right and the transmission has a buch of wires going to it so i was woundering if he has got the wrong transmission in it or what. And the truck has 4 wheel drive.
your going to need to make a diagram of your pan
the go to the article/specs at the top of the page
look for the trans I D section
once you figure out what you have we can help
It's probably an E4OD or an AOD, both of which are electronically shifted by the computer that runs the engine management.
If the truck is in good enough shape, you might want to invest in a C6 (I think) or some other vacuum shifted transmission.
Take a look at the oil pan and see what the shape is and how many bolts are on it and we'll tell you for sure what kind it is. Then you can have a better idea where to go from here.
