'04 6.0 Excursion. I've found the power wire, but am having trouble with finding the lt blu/yel wire. So far I've found red, wht, and blu uncapped wires that are approx 18ga, and yel and wht/red capped wires that are approx 20ga, and a grn/yel 20ga wire that is connected to my remote start to what the manual says should be the tach sense. I'm 99% sure I'm in the right place, but can't find that stupid lt blu/yel wire.
Uncapped wires? There should be 4 capped wires that are the pass-through wires. Black, Red, White, Blue. If you've found the pass through wires, the light blue/yellow wire is located with them in the same wire loom. Maybe they didn't include this option on the Excursion? Or do you have a manual tranny?
High idle mod allows you to elevate the engine speed with a flip of the switch. Here is a link to explain the location and what you are looking for. High Idle Mod
Correct on the black wire "passthrough" I found it. And I used that link to find the wires, but cannot find lt blu/yel. I'm crawling back under, but don't have much hope.
They want to be able to flip a switch and high idle to prevent wet stacking during extended idle periods. There's a mod in the tech section for it.
cool, my buddies 7.3l has the ford idle timer on it, nice for an ambulance or DPW truck because those lose alot of heat while idling and stack easily w/out a VGT.
This mod is not plug and play on the X like it is on the super duties. Ford never included the wiring from the PCM because they never intended the X to have a PTO.

Another possibility is to look into the availability of a AIC unit; they just plug in and let you set your idle speed to whatever you desire.
Good luck.
hard to find something that was never installed, so it must have an empty cavity in the pcm molex?? yeah i have never seen a dump body on a excursion..

That is correct; pin 12 on the PCM harness is empty, no pin was ever installed in it. To do this mod you either have to scavenge a PCM harness and remove pin 12 or procure some pins from Tyco and install pin 12 and the wire in the harness on the X.
The X would be pretty funny looking with a dump box
It still surprises me that the option wasn't there, I've seen quite a few Xs used as fire/rescue or command vehicles etc and with all the lights going and other accessories I'm sure those guys could make good use of the high idle.
Thanks for the help everyone. That is why I asked here. I will let everyone know the results when I get around to it. I don't understand why Ford would go through the effort to change the wiring on an EX seeing as they re so similar to the trucks.

we all stock pins for many different ford type molexes, bring in one from another cavity in the 140 molex and we most dealers chould have a repair kit, we stock like 80 different types..
I installed 12v to pin 12 to create high idle on mine. It works. Tyco makes the PCM connector, but Yazaki makes the terminals. They'll send you samples if you contact them. You need to drill into the connector to create a pass-thru for the wire. Hotmelt glue will secure the terminal in place.
I currentl have it wired to the P brake, but I'm gonna move it to a switch. I don't always want the high idle when I apply the brake.
