Well, I gotta have it. I saw a wilson 1000 antenna on a truck a couple days ago and that convinced me that I had to have one. Once I get that I'm gonna have the cobra peaked & tuned. Those two things should help out with the TX and RX haha

I picked up the 29LX LE about a year ago. I figured it would be a good remake of the old classic I used to own as a kid. Running a 4' K40 tune-able tip, and mini 8 coax. Power runs direct to the accessory battery(driver side, cleanest battery with minimal load on it) with a fused switch in the cab to completely kill power to the radio when I turn the truck off. I do have to say it's a nice radio, but getting the SWR just right was a pain! I even tuned the best I could, I still couldn't TX very clearly. I haven't used a CB since I was a kid, and it seemed a lot simpler back then. I guess I'm out of practice! Did anyone peak and tune out of the box? Or is it good to go as it is? Maybe that was my problem.

I just got my new wilson antenna put on. It makes a difference for sure. But I need to make a corona ball to put on the tip. And I need to adjust the length a bit. SWR is good, below 1.5 across the board under modulation. But I feel it can be better. I'm thinking about possibly getting a power mic for even more modulation power.

I was looking at an older cobra 29 radio, and seen it had an RFX 150 on it. I bet that thing kills drive through's when they key up!

Those wilson antenna's are nice. I might go with something like that once everything is running again.

Funny, I was just reading all about what I can do to my cobra 29. I found this. I'm going to do the first one for sure.

That looks like a MHO puck. Not used for CB, but it could be adapted. Mostly used for small antennas such as for cellphone and VHF two-way radios.

Oh ok. So if I wanted to adapt it to be used for a cb antenna, would I just wire it up like a regular antenna mount or is there more work involved? Im seriously considering hooking up a cobra 29 and this would save some time and money if it can be ussed.

I was in the exact same boat a couple years ago. A truck had a MHO mount on it like that, and I wanted to mount a cb antenna. Long story short, I removed the MHO, plugged the hole, and got a proper CB mount. The MHO isn't really strong enough to hold a 3-4ft antenna without some kind of back bracing. They're Made for short antennas, under 20".

I have a Cobra chrome 40 chan with the sub chan/ in my truck. I need to pickup a mount for my Firestick II. I love it used it all the way across the country and had some great conversations. Once I build my new headliner it will be mounted next to the new radio.

351, I checked out that page, some nice little tricks, but I need to find a CB shop that will peak and tune for the other ones first. Would an RFX 75/150 be worth it to install on the radio?

Not in my opinion, but it depends on what you want.

I'm not looking to blow up a drive through, or a passing cars' radio, but I would like to reach out farther. So probably better modulation and a couple more watts.

So far I've found better mosfets, final upgrade, shottky diodes and an LesComm exp board to stabilize the frequency shifts in the bands. I'm not a fan of echo boards, clean and crisp. If I pair that with a 75/150, I'm looking at a pretty decked out radio.
