aortizexcursion, that is a XLS because it doesnt have 2 tone paint, and it has a bench instead of the center console. I wonder why the guy who is selling it says that it is a XLT? It its deff a XLS with all the options because it has leather and a 6 cd changer

ya, but what my question meant, was can u tell the difference between vinyl and leather by looking at it?
Ohhh, I was going to say. I can't tell but I'm pretty sure XLS's didn't come with leather, after all it is the cheapest and lowest trim level Excursion available.
i have driven a 5.4 F-150 4x4 w/3.73 since '04 w/edge programmer. great motor, great truck and towed my Baja 232 3900# easy. i just bought a '03 X w/7.3 diesel. i would not want the 5.4 in the X. go 6.8 V-10. the X is alot of truck. i was looking for a V-10 when i ran across the 7.3(a $$ deal i could not refuse). the V-10 is one heck of a motor! keep looking the deals are there, i missed 2 deals before i landed the '03 X. Our church has a 2005 15 passenger bus that has the 5.4 L engine in it. It's basically a cutaway E350 SuperDuty with a high profile bus body mounted on it. I've been amazed at how much pep it has and how well it runs. If you're not doing any heavy towing, I think the 5.4 would be a good engine.
I have an 01 Ex Limited with a 5.4 that has been to the top of Pikes Peak and the top of Mt. Washington, NH. I have also made a 14,749 mile round trip from SC to Alaska. The truck has plenty of power for this kind of traveling. I love it. I have also towed a few trailers loaded with firewood and the truck didn't even know it had anything behind it. I say go for it if you aren't going to do any heavy duty towing.
That can't be true. I've driven Expeditions with and without merely people in them and they were total terds. Much slower with people in them. Are you sure you don't have the V-10 in there instead?
I'm not trying to argue, but come on. You towed a trailer full of firewood and didn't feel any difference?

I used to have a '91 GMC 2500 Suburban that had a 5.7 gasser in it. I towed our 4500 pound Buick on an open trailer all day long at 75 mph without any problems and I was completely happy with its performance. The newer 5.4's are much more improved than that engine and I'd think that the performance would be comparable. However, once we purchased our 24' enclosed trailer, the 5.7 just wasn't enough.
He's talking about using his "X" for a daily driver and not for towing. If he shops around, he'll probably save at least a couple of hundred bucks over the cost of the V10 and at least $8000 less than a diesel. I've found the 5.4 to be underrated and actually a good engine.
A couple of years ago, I was towing our trailer with my E350 SuperDuty van with a 7.3 PSD and a 1 ton utility truck with a 5.4 was giving me a run for my money.
If the deal was right, I certainly wouldn't shy away from the 5.4!

No, it is not a V-10. I don't try to drag race the Ex. I just drive it normally. The 5.4 has sufficient low end torque to do any job I have needed to do with it. It is a great truck and, as you know, they don't make them anymore so I am taking very good care of it. I don't abuse it, it has 124K on the clock and I hope to get three times that before I have to do any major work on it.
ya haveto go v10 here. i have a 02 expedition with a 5.4 and it's pitiful . lol no guts at all. and from what i have read there is no fuel savings with the 5.4 just low resale. just my 2 cents.
