electronic ignition
Just finished installing a electronic ignition in my 64 4WD. it has a 300 six from a 66 in it. i replaced the distributor with a setup from an 84. everything went real well. that motor has never ran that well. i installed a high voltage coil and high performance spark plug wires and NGK plugs. picked up about 4 miles per gallon in fuel .power is the same as far as i can tell , it just runs a 100 percent better. gonna do a cam next and larger exhaust system. prolly in the next week or two. Dutch, I also noticed a marked improvement, don't know about the winters there in the great state of Montana, but in my neck of the woods, upgrading to electronic ign. really helped fired up the ole hard to start 390 on a cold winter morning. Also, don't particulary miss trying to set point gap. So impressed installed elect. ign. on other 65 w/ small V8.
