Ya. Today i was at a stop light and a buddy pulled up next to me. I was tapping the gas showing off my smoke when i noticed it wasnt black. It really had a green tint to it. I think it was a cross between white and black but it wasnt just grey. It was a heck of a lot thicker than normal too. I did just get done running the truck pretty hard before(floored it alot) I kept on doing it and it didnt clear up. The light turned green and i drove away normal then floored it and it was back to its regular thin cloud of black smoke. Ive been haveing other symptoms too.
The truck shakes. At idle it kind rocks. It gets anoying after a while. Then if im in drive and let my foot off the brake i can feel the shake in the movment of the truck. I jerks foward. Its a real small and fast jeck not enoght to slam you or anything but you can feel it. Then sometimes when it is in a high gear for the speed and i give it slight pedal to speed up a little bit i can feel the same jerk. But sometime it does not go away when i let off the pedal.
Then yesterday morring i notice a bit a white smoke on start up. It lasted a good 10 sec. I never noticed it before but it did it agian this morring. Another weird thing that happened yesterday was after i drove it for a bout 7-8 miles i floored it from about 15mph to pass someone that was driving way to slow for the road and a really thick cloud of black smoke came out. This was way thicker than normal and it was really neat but i cant get it to do it again.
Hmmm thats a thought. A really bad one though, Hopefully thats not the case I sure hope not. Im gunna check all the fluids in the morring and see what i got. I dont think just becuase the coolant is green it would make the smoke green but I dont know. Any other suggestion?
Thanks
John
lol ya i guess. My buddy even said it looked green so I know it isnt just me. But i forgot to mention one thing I was a little low on fuel. pretty close to the E mark. I usually dont let it get that low but I just havent had time to fill up. I dont think that has anything to do with it becuase it cleared up.
usually coolant is white smoke with no tint to it. I would fill the truck up with fuel and double check the coolant levels and run it. see what happens.
I'm not sure what color mold stagnent fuel gets, But i suppose if he got bad fuel and the truck sat long enough, the mold has just been setting at the bottom of the tank? O... well the filter would catch the mold, but maybe the fuel color would make it burn funny.
Your right TJ, coolant usually does white. So.. Thats kinda creepy.
I love thinking out loud. I can just let you guys tell me how much of an idiot I am, and learn more!
I checked all the fluid levels and it is all good. Im gunna say it was something in in the fuel. Im going to fill up and add some diesel kleen to it. The only thing im worried about is the white smoke at start up. This morring it did it for about 20 seconds. I herd this could be caused by a glow plug or two that are not working. I guess im going to check them out next time i have a chance.
