My wife has insomnia every night & usually gives up by 2 or 3 am. I don't know how she can stay awake that long but I guess her system has adjusted to it. I always fall asleep instatnly but then sometimes wake up 3 to 4 hours later & can't get back to sleep...goes in cycles.
Here's one for you: I recently toured a "lightship." These were floating lighthouses that also had a loud foghorn that sounded every minute or so through the night. It was so loud it could be heard for ten miles. I asked how the crew slept & the docent had no answer.
Recently an individual bought a lighthouse in the Chesapeake bay from the federal govt. to use as a vacation get-away home. He claims they never told him the light was decommissioned but not the foghorn! It still sounds every minute or so EVERY NIGHT! Needless to say, the new owner is bummed!

Which lightship did you visit? The Boston and Nantucket were hanging around the old Navy yard here in Boston for years....not sure where they are now.
I guess buying a lighthouse requires some due diligence.....but I bet in no time you could get used to the foghorn and sleep fine.
I learned to sleep just fine directly under the arresting gear of an aircraft carrier.....and some of the best sleep I ever got was in the Mediterranean while on a 40' crew boat with that diesel running - talk about soothing.
It isn't that bad.....just think of it as a day of work. You are taking it at the best possible time since everything on the test is still recent for you. Don't study the night before...in fact, you really don't need to study at all for this test since you have reference material with you. Eat a good meal Friday night, relax, go to bed early and you'll do fine.
I couldn't sleep the night before I took it either. I passed first time. Didn't study at all.
