A natural for aiding sleep is a tablespoon of honey in warm water sipped one half hour before you go to bed. You can also use warm milk if you wish. Works great!

I have never really had that problem, although my Narcolepsy has something to do with that. I have found that sometimes it might take me 5 or 10 minutes to finally fall asleep. This usually happens if I have a lot of things on my mind or am stressed out about something. Usually I am out before my head hits the pillow.

Try relaxing and sitting around for a while before you try to go to bed. Clear your head of any concerns or worrys about stuff that happened or will happen.

I wonder what the scientific explanation for the honey and warm milk is? Anyway, just in the last couple months I've found that I can't have any caffeine after about 5 pm otherwise I can't fall asleep until 2 or 3 in the morning. Weird thing is caffiene never used to have any effect on me.

Worth a trip to the doctor.

Sleeplessness by itself is not enough, but if it's accompanied by other symptoms, they could, taken together, point to an actual medical problem. For example, if you also eat like a horse and never gain weight, you could have hyper-thyroidism which produces an accelerated metabolism making it impossible to sleep...

Milk contains a mild sedative that is only activated at a certain temperature.

I have suffered from insomnia my whole life. I have only found one thing that helps me sleep,,, But since this isn't in The Club, I'll have to refrain from sharing!!

The worlds best sleep aid. Although my wife sometimes gets mad at me when I wake her up in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.....afterward she can't sleep and I am unconscious.

like the other poster said you should consult a medical doctor cause there could be an underlying problem there and lack of sleep causes stress on the body which is also dangerous

What's sleep?

I've been waking up in the middle of the night for the last few weeks and can't get back to sleep for nothing. Mine is stress related, I'm sure. My last semester of school, looking for a job, and I have my Fundamentals of Engineering exam this coming weekend. I'm not looking forward to an 8-hour test

For me it's the combo of sugar and caffeine. I can have dessert, or coffee and I can go to bed. If I drink pop, I am up an extra 3 to 5 hours.

HI Snowbunny!.

What were you referring to? Tell me, tell me!

When I posted the counting sheep thing - I could only picture Tim in my mind and I was hoping he would not see this thread, but he did and we know what was going thru this head..

About milk, never eat dairy products before a big exam or test. The body has to work super hard to digest this stuff. This will cause one to get very tired.
So drink milk and eat turkey and get sleepy.

I can drink 2 cans of Coke for dinner, and I can fall asleep within minutes.
I can fall asleep within minutes after what Snowbunny wants to say too.
Then again I am Polynesian and we all get sleepy after we eat.
It's called the Polynesian paralysis.

i hate sleeping and so does my wife, so it works out pretty good.

i couldn't slepp worth a darn in the Navy, the only real good sleep i had was on the submarine. i use to not be able to sleep at all without a noise of a fan, the noise reminds me of the ventilation noise on the sub. but not no more, but still i think it is one reason i can not get to sleep.

i usually get between 5-6 hours a night.

now i occupy my mind reading and playing around on fte, sleep is always secondary to me, like eating, just do it because need to, not want to.

Lately, I've been having a terrible time falling asleep, it usually takes me two or three hours to fall asleep, but once I'm out I'm good for at least 10 hours. I'm sure it's because I'm only working 8 hours a week and sitting around the house searching for a job or trying to find something to do is boring the heck out of me so I'm never really tired. But I've noticed that since I've been having problems falling asleep I'm also catching viruses alot more.

It isn't that bad.....just think of it as a day of work. You are taking it at the best possible time since everything on the test is still recent for you. Don't study the night before...in fact, you really don't need to study at all for this test since you have reference material with you. Eat a good meal Friday night, relax, go to bed early and you'll do fine.

I couldn't sleep the night before I took it either. I passed first time. Didn't study at all.
