I believe Clifford Aluminum covers are decent, but really pricey. There chrome ones suck, they are just a generic chrome valve cover. I just use a stock cover, sandblasted, and painted in the "color of the day", this time it was Cat yellow. I had one once in JD green, it looked sweet.
i never thought about painting my valve cover, cuz i did want to dress up my engine and that was one of my things to do. just use a paint that cant hold up to heat?
The Chrome ones from ebay are generally bad. I bought one through ebay from a company called SS Auto Chrome. BAD MOJO!
The middle baffle had to be bent and banged out of the way (it broke before it could be properly clearanced) and the bolt holes aren't quite lined up, along with the whole of it being a tad smaller. Just enough to realllly **** you off. Then, I let it sit for like a month with no heat cycles, nothing. Just out under the hood. When I came back to it, it had rusted to all hell. What a waste. (They also shipped me a chebby six cover at first and wouldn't pay return freight for the exchange. I'm pissed about the shipping, not the wrong item (hey, it happens to everyone)).
As for what i'm going with now, i'm takin a stock cover off an '81 (has "Power by Ford" raised in it) and i'm going to have it chromed, then perhaps paint the raised lettering in blue.
As for cliffys, I don't know. But I sure as hell won't be paying a boatload of monies to them to have their name on my cover.
