i got a 95 f-150, 4.9L straight 6... i know i dont got a big dissel engine and it be gay to put straight pipes on it but regaurdless i would still get better horse power from the flow, but i was wonder if it be just fine to cut the whole damn pipes off and run it straight to the ground, and another question would it help me any to run my pcv value straight to the ground too
p.s. yea i know taken of the cad. converter is bad for the ozone, but so is smoking crack, hairspray, spraypaint, homicidly fires and everything else in this world so i not to worried about that so just want to know... and yes some time i like taking my truck mudding but i take it in the kiddie section it sinks to easy
lots of trucks here are running straight pipes........not gay at all.....dumping directly under your truck just means you'll smell the exhaust a lot.......might think about running back further. I wouldn't want to sit in your cab at idle a long time with them dumped like that........might be dead.........
Why do you need to run the PCV to the ground? I see no benefit in that at all. Definitely not a HP thing.
My cats are gone....were when I got it.......and true duals through a pair of burnt out glass packs. Guess I messing up the ozone too.
yea really didnt think about dying in my cab lol yea maybe i just might run the pipe out behind my passanger door... and the pcv i heard you get better gas millage without cause emissions werent good that year, idk really know anything about the emissions of that year but my auto tech teacher is swearing to me about it
oh another question can you do the screw driver test on the starter and the silly-nod cause i did it on my first car which was a dodge spirit the biggest peice of junk i have ever owned but it fried all the wires when i did it, my dad can do it on his 250 i figured it might work on mine but i want to make sure it wont harm nothing
oh another question can you do the screw driver test on the starter and the silly-nod cause i did it on my first car which was a dodge spirit the biggest peice of junk i have ever owned but it fried all the wires when i did it, my dad can do it on his 250 i figured it might work on mine but i want to make sure it wont harm nothing
Are you just talking about cranking the engine? You can short across the solenoid with a screwdriver to start her up. Shouldn't bake anything unless you've got some problems already or you use a crowbar or something instead of a screwdriver.
yea i was asking cause when i start up it will just click does it a lot sometimes and sometimes it starts right up and i only know how to tell if it is working by the screw driver test only way i learned how to do it, but my g/f's dad owns the same vechicle and he had the same thing it was the silly-nod darn things never seem to work he just bi passed it cause he said he went threw them like underwear in his 150, i dont want to bi pass it inless i have to cause i know if i dont have that silly little nod that it will burn up my starter
You can run the exhaust there but it's really loud inside the cab. Thats how I had mine and between the fumes and the noise I got a headache every time I drove it. Now I piped it back a couple feet past the cab but it still drones kind of bad. It sounds cool outside though
oh my friend came over today and wanted some help with his exhaust he was putting straight pipes on and getting rid of the setup he had, he had pipes that came up between the cab and the bed of his 150, i keep them cause he was going to throw them away, dont know how it is going to sound cause it is dual and it has flaps on it and i got a straight six
Yes the screwdriver test works fine, but make sure to turn the key to the ON position if you want the truck to actually start, you need to activate the fuel pump.
As for the exhaust, I'm not sure I really understand your question... You're just asking for a second opinion on whether you should straight pipe it? I think I might sound kind of bad on the 4.9L, but I've never heard it so I can't talk. I'd think you'd get a much better sound and no loss in performance if you went with a performance muffler or some glasspacks.
Well you're never going to get a sound from a diesel, that just ain't possibly on a gasser...
You could most likely get her loud very easily, but it will be at the cost of it sounding GOOD. The typical rule of thumb is that the louder you go, the more raspy and cackly it gets; the deeper, the throatier/cleaner.
well my friends pipes he gave me have a 4" id and 4 1/4" od, they are stainless with the flaps on top like a semi-truck they are dual but i can run just one if that is what i should do but i am most likely putting it on cause next time i sink my junker it wont be all in my exhaust
