Remote start tach wire location?

I'm having a little bit of trouble with a remote start/ keyless entry system in my 97 F250 diesel. I've got the whole system wired up and the keyless entry works properly, but I'm having trouble with getting the remote start to work.
When I put the system into "learn mode" so that it can learn where the truck is idling, it's not reading anything. I've seen a few people on the forums here say that the feed for this is on a white/pink wire. I tapped into the white/pink wire in the harness under the dash and it's not working. Specifically, I'm tapped into a wire in the harness that runs through the firewall. If you're looking at the firewall from under the dash, there are two harnesses that go through. It's in the harness on the left hand side (and I'm tapped into the wire there also if that makes a difference).
I've seen a few posts saying that the white/pink wire actually goes into the PCM near the driver side wheel well. I took a look and I didn't see any white/pink wire. Did I just overlook it? Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

I didnt use it. When I put my remote starter in. I programed the starter to start without a tach reading, and I just left the wire disconnected. It has worked great for a year now. What brand is your system. Do you have the option to tachless start. That is the way I set mine up.I think I still have my instructions maybe I can find the right color wire? I'll try a little later.

The connector you are looking for is under the hood on the PCM under the brake booster by the fender liner.

It's pin # 50 for the 49 states engines
pin # 19 for calif engines both are w/pk wires.

casey - Nope, no tachless option on this system. The darn thing won't start until it's programmed with the tach lead. It's a branded Ford system (built by Code systems) and is meant for newer vehicles (directions I received are for a 02-03 Superduty) but I'm retro fitting it into my truck. There weren't too many differences especially in regard to the wire colors.

Cuda - Thanks for the info. I'm going to take a look when I get home from work tonight. I'm pretty sure that's the exact info that I need. I'll let you know how I do.
Thanks!

Beware that the tach signal is in HZ. Its a mirror image of the CPS, not a pulse as most tach signals are.

i plan on installing a remote start on mine soon. the one i have does have a tachless option so no worries there. but which wires did you tap into for the starter and ignition. i installed it on my ranger but this diesel is a diffrent animal.

Ok guys, just finished the install.
Cuda, thanks a million for the assist. Your diagram and info was exactly what I needed. Too bad the wire's in such a terrible spot for soldering!

Not sure if anyone cares, but as I said this is one of the Ford branded PowerCode systems remote start/keyless entry systems. Here are my thoughts so far.
The install was pretty straight forward. Like I said, I retro fitted the system into my truck so the install directions weren't exact, but they were close enough that I was able to do the install (I think that the only difference between the directions and the actual install was the tach wire and maybe a wire or two located in a different spot).

The programming directions that I got with it leave a little to be desired. They tell you 2 ways to program the tach sense - neither of which worked. I had to do a little reading between the lines to come up with the way that worked. Hopefully this will help someone else. To program the tach sense on this system, you have to enter programming mode with the hood open. Then go to the tach sense option (option bank 5, option 5) and start the truck. Then after a few seconds hit the programming/override button and then shut the truck off. That is it. One part in the manual says enter programming mode either with the hood open or with the brake pedal pressed. The other part only says to hold the brake pedal down while programming the tach sense. Doing either of these, the horn was honking every few seconds like it was reading a signal, but the remote start wouldn't work.
It hasn't gone into normal use yet, but in reading some posts on people with other brands, I think some of the other brands offer more features. Install will be the same no matter which you pick, so I would recommend getting the system that has the features that you need. My personal preference is to go with OEM parts, but since this really isn't OEM, next time I wouldn't hesitate to look at other brands.
A few other notes: my truck didn't have factory keyless entry so I had to buy relays for the keyless entry. In all, I bought 3 from Ford (at about $8 each). It will take either 2 or 3 depending on whether you want driver door priority unlock.
The only diesel option that the system has is to delay starting by 30 seconds. To me, that seems like a long delay, but I don't think it will cause any problems. That delay is either on or off. I've noticed that some kits have choices for the delay time. Seems kinda nice.
And finally, when you hit the unlock button on the remote twice, it honks the horn. So when you use the driver priority unlock option, and when you want to open the passenger door, the system will honk the horn. Thankfully, you can disable the horn from honking, but it also disables it for when you lock as well.
If anyone has any questions, let me know.

No problem stang, glad I could help. I was a little worried when madvan reminded us about the tach signal. Looks like the alarm makers are on top of the 2 types of signals, although I think most vehicles have digital (Hz) vs. analog (pulse) with the use of Cam/Crank sensors.
