I just changed the fluid and filter in my 1997 ford ranger w/175000 mile 3.0liter v-6 auto tranny the problem is I was supposed to use Mercon5 instead I used a Mercon compatable product. What is the best way to deal with this since it has been ran and is now mixed. any help would be very appreciated
THX JIMDANDY unfortunatly I had already confirmed I used the wrong fluid now I wondering howe I go about getting ALL the wrong stuff out before I have a problem
There's still a lot of leftover Mercon stocked on shelves so that's why you still have to be sure that the fluid that is going in your tranny is actually Mercon V.
You can buy stuff that converts old mercon to mercon v http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-000062005.htm
It will save the trouble of re flushing and you still might want to add it if you do flush
to convert the left over to mercon v!!
