I'm driving down the road, 30 mph, and I accelerate and quickly take my foot off the pedal. Next thing I know it seems my engine is dead. A few seconds later it's back and running again. This was about 2-3 minutes after I started it in the morning. The outside temp was 50 or so. I had no more problems the rest of the day. That was 4 days ago. This morning I start'er up and take off down the road. 30 mph or so, same as before, and the same thing. I look down and the service engine light is on. Again, a few seconds later it's running again. Same scenario, accelerate and quickly take my foot off the pedal. It happened twice this morning so I turned around and here I am. Any ideas? 99 F350 CC 7.3 250k miles. Thanks,

Great site BTW. I've had 3 F350's and getting another one soon I think.
THe first order of business would be to get your fault codes read by a scanner which reads powerstroke codes. If your SES light came on, there will be a code to read. Mine was acting similar and it turned out to be the under the valve cover 9 pin connector had come loose. If this is happening, you might get a P1316 code. ( a common problem. the plastic locking tabs just plain warp and allows the connector to separate).
Don't forget to check your trusty CPS ($30 form Ford). If you don't have access to a good code reader then this is a cheap start. Keep the old one for a spare in case it turns out not to be the problem.
