That is true about semis, you know how many cars are equal to the pollution of a semi?
Even environementists know that automitive pollution is a minute dent in pollution, it's just where the money is.
They got those new "enviromental" semi engines now. They had one on display inside a closed building. They had the truck running at idle for 6 hours and no one could smell the exhaust at all. It was in the paper last week.

Well 2 of my Dad's grain trucks could be easily changed to EFI.
Yes I'm sure if carberators are banned and all motors must be EFI or converted, EFI conversions kits will be very cheap and affordable.
Even if we do have a EFI ion a old carb factory truck, whoever is driving it will be pulled over and safty inspected on a weekly or possibly daily basis.
I have heard alot about those new semis. I just wonder what they are like for power, and i wonder how long it would take them to change over existing trucks.
Those new motors are built by Mercedes Benz, they also get something like 25mpg at 400 or so hp. But there are reason why these motors are not going to be coming to North America but they are all they use in the EU.
I think the power is the same just there is a small hit to fuel economy but to make up for that they have electric heaters for the cab and other things to reduce idling.
That would be sweet a 400 horse getting 25 mpg.
Im all in for saving the enviroment, as long as im not paying for the extra fuel, and th epower is the same. Theres nothing worse then running an underpowered truck.
Just Europes definition of a "semi tractor" is way different that our "semi tractor". Their trucks are pretty much one of our delivery trucks. It's next to impossible to drive a fullsize vehicle over there. Their "big farms" is one section of land.
The Austrailians have the "big trucks". They pull these suckers at 80 mph across the desert.
