Did you purchase the optional linkage kit that accepts Ford style kickdown linkages?
This is an option on all performer and thunder series carbs, as these carbs are set up for manual transmissions right out of the box.
You can either purchase the linkage adapter from Summit or somebody, OR you can fabricate something. You can cut something off the old carb if necessary and drill some holes and adapt it in place. Before removing the old lever, make sure you look it over and take a measurement or two so that you know where to put it.
