Exclamation Lose interior air when accelerating?!

Hi all! First post!

Situation:
I put the interior fan on high. When I accelerate, the fan stops blowing air into the cab. It sounds like it's still on, but theres no air coming out! It kinda sounds like it starts blowing into the dash. When the tach comes back down to coasting speed My air comes back on normal. I thought it was the air filter (K&N) So I bought the cleaning kit and did a great job on the filter. However, the problem is still there. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Probably a rotted hose, check around your vacuum cannister.

I second the vacuum leak. Have you by any chance changed the battery lately? There are a lot of vacuum hoses in that area that are easily damaged when changing the battery

mark, it is a vacuum leak. for more info, the fan is still running, it did not quit. ther is a vacuum cylinder that holds the duct door open to the dash vents, when you stomp on the throttle, you loose some vacuum and the cylinder moves the door to put the air into the defrost vents at the windshield.... the guys are right, there is a vacuum TEE line on the passenger side, firewall, about the location of the glove box. look for a cracked small plastic/ rubber line at that location. one side of the TEE goes toward the motor and is the source of vacuum, the other side goes behind the battery to the vacuum accumulaator. if you do battery work, you can accidently pull the hose off. if you have a fender bender on the passenger side you can crack the canister.. maybe it just cracked is another possibility.. i would check the hoses first.

Guys, thanks for the replies I was under the engine today doing an oil change on it and looked for any cracked or damaged hoses. I also looked from on top too, but I didn't know which hose I was exactly looking for and I dont remeber seeing a tee but again I wasn't sure what I was looking for. I will find that part mentioned. Thanks very much for that info. Thats a starting point for me and it is exactly as you described it. I update you guys when I get down to it. I have to order a book for this vehicle.

I had the same problem and it was the tee near the battery. The hose going toward the fender had a crack in it near the tee. I pulled the rubber piece off of the tee then pulled the rubber piece off of the hose.......cut the hose.....inserted hose into rubber piece........put rubber piece back onto the tee. Works great. thanks for the info guys!
