Took my truck in for inspection today and it failed for rear brakes. This is my first brake replacement, 2005 F-150 Lariat, 48K miles. Dealer quoted $195 for rear brakes! What, I said!!?? That includes turning the rotors, he says. So I ask, how much to do the brakes without turning the rotors, $150. Stick it, I said, a moron can change disc brake pads (or pay $150 for someone else to do it). Anyway, I buy pads for the rear AND the front for under $100 bucks, good pads too, Wagner Thermoquiet or something like that. Anyway, my question is, does anyone know the torque specs for the caliper bolts for the front and rear? Once I get that info, I'm on my way. Thanks in advance for you help.
Update on my pad replacement. Went without a hitch and the Wagner pads are great, no squeaking. Still have to see if there is more or less brake dust. I suspect less. Will need rotors next time around.

If you put the Thermo Quiet pads on, the answer will be much less. I also had an off and on problem with brake squeal and the these pads solved it. They seem to stop the truck better also.

The dust will not be totally eliminated but greatly reduced. My wheels are dirty from driving by the time the dust is showing. I put on the Thermo Quiets at 11,000 miles just to get rid of the dust from the factory pads. I now have about 58,000 miles. Excellent choice in pads!
Didn't touch the rotors. Not much pulsating when stopping so I left them alone. The worst problem was they were a bit glazed. When I finally decide to replace the rotors it's going to be high quality slotted aftermarket, looking at SSBC.
You could not have bought a better set of brake pads! I installed them on my 97 F150 and had virtually no brake dust at all! And,when I sold my truck, the pads had over 30k miles on them and were barely worn!
