Well I tried once before and got no response. So I'll try again to see if anyone can help. I have a 2003 F-250 Lariat FX4. with the 6.0 liter PSD. I assume the trans is the 5r110 model (not sure). I have been noticing a bit harder shift from 2nd to 3rd gear than any of the other shifts. Starts out fine but ends in kind of a "clunk" (without the noise) it's really just the feel. Is this a sign the trans is going out or is there some sort of service that can be done. My drive train is completely stock except the tire size. I'm running 33x12.50 A/T's. The truck has 121k on it but I just (4000 miles ago) had Ford do a tranny service. Any help would be great! Thanks
First of all yes you do have the 5R110 TorqShift transmission.
Second, do you have any kind of modifications to the vehicle. Especially aftermarket programmers or inline fuel devices like the Bully Dog, Predator, Edge, or Banks Six Gun?
I personally cant help with your problem, but that information can help others help you.
That truly is good news. Thank you. This must then simply be an inherant issue with this particular tranny. I feel much better now. I have been contiplating adding a programmer to the truck for pulling the fifth wheel and was affraid to do so with a potential trans problem. I've read about the DP product but it looks to be an edge evolution, did they just add their own programming to that product? Thanks again for the info on the tranny.
Yes, DP tuner is able to copy their own custom programming onto the Edge Evolution programmer. I have not heard of anyone on this forum trying it in a 6.0L truck though (DP Tuner is the #1 choice for 7.3L tuning here though). Around here the most popular thing for the 6.0L is an SCT Excal programmer with custom tunes. The most popular tuner here are the Guys from Spartan Diesel Technologies, and others that get good reviews are Innovative Diesel or Tadd at Elite Diesel.
