Is anybody getting a very hard to remove white line coming from the ford oval
in the middle of there 2008 F350 tail gate. After it rains or washing the thing it runs from the bottom of the oval to the bottom of the tail gate.
If you have lots of time, vinegar will remove this. Clay will take it off quicker. Neither will prevent it from returning. Like 96psdkris said, really hard water being held behind the oval is probably the culprit. Is this happening after rain or just when you wash it?
Take it to the dealer like that and see if they'll fix the emblem & clean it up for you. Also waxing the tailgate will make it easier to remove the mark next time.
Yup, get 'em on lots of vehicles. I don't really think there's anything a warranty can do. It's a fact of carwashing. You just have to keep checking the area after a wash and clean it up. You might want to try and blow some compressed air at the edges of the emblem to blow the trapped water out.
My F150 does this from under the plastic bed caps...but it's mud/dirt that runs down the side of my bed. I just wait until it all dries and wipe it off with my T-shirt.
I'm sure you could probably clean it up with a wet towel. I also agree with "edjunior"...blow some compressed air around the emblem to get all the excess water out.
It is from hard water. CLR took it off but I am a little worried about the clear coat from that stuff. The compressed air is a good idea, I will start doing that. I love this truck!!!!!!!!!!!
