No, you can run a blower with one or two carburetors. Some other blower manufacturers are Weiand and Paxton and Vortech. Try contacting Summit Racing Equipment because they can probably tell you who makes a blower for your motor. Also, have you thought about Nitrous? It's about a quarter of the cost of a blower setup.

i dont like nitrous..you have to floor it to gain the benefits of it....plus your forever changing nos tanks.
Blowers are the way to go.
B&M is another blower to lookat.
Found this website a couples days ago,, check it out, I am not sure about those "magic" or "to good solution" http://www.fl.net.au/~impultec/

Are you looking for a centrifugal or roots style? the roots blowers are all the same design and differ by sizing, 4-71 6-71 8-71, so named for how many 71 cubic inch cylinders on a GMC diesel bus engine the blower could feed. That was there the original location. What you may need is a manifold to bolt the blower to. I would try Hampton's and see if he can get you a 'bue thunder' manifold, made by Art Francis, Art is one of the few guys still making parts for these wonderful old dinosaur engines, and Hampton can do the belt and pulleys for you. I see that now Paxton is again offering the "carb" blower. Apparently intended for small blocks in mustangs and such.
Any opinions about what it would take to adapt it to an FE?
(I mean physically, I know about the engine building considerations)
EDIT: I’m surprised we haven’t talked more about this, this ancient thread is the only one that search pulled

BDS sells complete kits for FE,also anything else you would need intakes and drive kits you name it they have it for your FE.I still dont understand why they cut up Blue Thunder intakes to start with as a blower intake.
The thing that got me was they have a warranty got me to buy a new kit rather than rebuild my old 6-71
