what is the ideal compresion for a stock 390? also anybody know where I can find a inexpensive set of headers for it I have a cracked manifold?

I think 9.5 is very nice for all around use. As for headers, Stan's and Sanderson make good ones, but neither is inexspensive. Can you weld up the crack? Maybe a manifold from the salvage yard? DF

thanks for the info but what i really meant was i did a compression test and I averaged about 105lbs is that ideal or realy low

390 compresion

105 psi seems a little low, I would expect between 120 - 160 psi. As far as inexpensive headers, you might look at the Hooker Competition Series at http://racenet.net/exh/hooker1.htm.

I think you would be trading one leak for another though, and hot rodding a worn engine would not be good.
