Hey guys,
Ive tried researching this over the last few days but i havent gotten very far. im looking to run 37x12.50R18 on my 06 F250 diesel 4x4 cc/sb. id be running them on my stock rims, they are the king ranch ones, dont know if they are any wider or differently spaced than other factory alloys. anyway, can i fit them without sawzalling my front fenders? im not too worried about the bumper im planning on a ~4" lift, probably the BDS 4" 4 link, i may buy pieces from each company and do DR 4.5" springs with the BDS links. i really dont want to go up 6" to clear these, im hoping the narrow rims, factory BS and not running a 13.5" wide tire i would have a better chance. also if anyone has something like than please post pics. my other option is 35x13.50 on factory rims with ~2.5-3" lift. opinions or suggestions, please.
thanks,
Andrew
I run the Pro Comp Xtreme AT's in the 325/65r18 size which measure out at 35x13.5x18 on my stock rims on my 05 SD. All I have is a 2" leveling kit up front, which is nothing more than 2" aluminum blocks that go under the lower coil cup and longer shocks. It is close (only on the back plastic inner fender, the bumper is fine) when I turn the wheel, but I can run from lock to lock with no rubbing. Granted, I don't take the truck out and try to rock crawl with it, but it tows my mudder nicely and doesn't rub with my plow on the front. So, knowing that, if you were to put a 4" lift and run a 37x12.5's, then I think you'd be fine . Again, I wouldn't try to take it out on heavy trail riding or rock crawling, but for general around town and some minor off road excurions, you should be fine. As heavy as these trucks are, why would you want to crawl this truck anyways?
thanks for the replies, the truck wont be off roading, i do land clearing and the worst off road it sees is pulling a chipper to an easement so it can be hooked up to a bull dozer. im not worried about plastic inner fenders or anything, only the steel. i just like the look of a larger tire with a lower lift. i had orginally thought about the 325/65R18's because i had planned on pulling the 5th wheel with it and i didnt want to sit very high. but i dont think its going to be needed for towing duties anymore.
KJETT - do you have any photos of your setup? and how do you like those extreme at's?
I have the Donahoe Racing 4.5" lift with 35x12.5R20 Toyo Open Country MTs on the factory 20" rims. My drivers side tire rubs on the trailing arm at full left turn. I have plenty of clearance to the fenders though. I think that you will definitely have problems with rubbing on the trailing arms, but should be ok with the fenders. I plan on adding material to the steering stops to prevent from rubbing on my truck, I'm sure you could do the same.
I have been told if you go with an aftermarket 9" wide rim with a little more backspacing they should clear fine. I am probably going to look at aftermarket 18" wheels and 37" tires when my 35s wear out.
beerstalker,
thanks for your help, ive looked at your truck in the past, its built up very tastefully. how do you like the DR lift? what do you have for the rear?
Thanks,
Andrew
Thanks for the comment. I am extrememly happy with how it is turning out, but I've got a lot more to do
I love the lift, it rides a lot better than my 99 did stock. The rear is a 5" block that replaces the factory 3.5" block. I haven't had any problems with axle wrap. I would suggest you talk to Marty at Truck Toyz Performance (his member name is Overkill on FTE). He sells and installs a lot of lifts, and was a lot of help when I was putting my stuff together. http://www.trucktoyzperformance.com/
Thanks, ill check him out, my trucks going into the body shop sometime in the next few weeks to get some repairs after a penske truck failed to stop. but once i get it back ill be starting on the build
I just checked out trucktoyzperformance.com and found a couple trucks with the setup im looking for. they have a searchable gallery so i would recommend it to anyone looking to pictures or anything else regarding their lift questions.
Thanks again beerstalker
I have been told if you go with an aftermarket 9" wide rim with a little more backspacing they should clear fine. I am probably going to look at aftermarket 18" wheels and 37" tires when my 35s wear out.
Less backspacing is what you want...makes the tire stick out more....farther away from the radius arms.
Also, if you plan on going aftermarket 18s and 37s, be careful with the width of the wheel, backspacing and which tire you choose.......other wise you will have serious rubbing at a 4.5" lift.
If you want to limit the steering.....drilling and tapping the stock stops and installing a bolt is my preferred method, although I'm not sure how much you need to lengthen yours....possibly just welding on a washer will work.
well im only worried about rubbing on the steel fender. not the plastic inner, bumper, or link arms. id rather not sacrifice turning radius when i really need it just to save a bit of rubbing on a non-cosmetic item. only concern is my fender i will not cut it either, i will however move the axle forward if need be.
