Hey John, I'm having the same thoughts as Brian B. Have you considered moving to the Jag IFS? Will any of these shiney parts work on the Jag?

The parts look very good. Just don't drop anything powder coated as it tends to chip. Did the "chrome" powder cost more than a standard color?

I love to see progress as I'm sure you do also.

Way cool John... I had thought about getting a couple brackets and my pulleys done in chrome coating.. had never seen any results.. this looks fantastic..

John,
They look great. I wouldn't worry about the powder coat on the springs, it's a polyester powder that will remain quite flexible. The company that I work for used to powder coat all of the machines we build, so I used to get lots of parts for my car/truck projects coated and never had any issues at all. We have since gone to using all stainless, aluminum and plastic so we don't have the powder coating equipment anymore.
That's why my truck is back to rattle can details.

All the parts look awsome. If these suspension parts are an indication of whats to come.....I can't wait to see the completed truck.

Look under any vehicle on the market the past 25-30 years and you will find that all suspension parts are powder coated including coil and leaf springs. The bond between powder coat and metal is much diferent than the bond between metal and paint allowing it to flex with the metal surface rather than around the metal surface like paint does.

Next year?!?!?
................next year???

.....lets think about this a bit.......(goofy harp sounds signifying a dream sequence).....fade to John's shop...

...Look close, there's Ol' John out in the shop busily assembling all those new shiney parts. See him taking his time, using great care so as not to chip or mar the surfaces in any way. This step will take a long time as he, as per custom, must repeat the process several times. Watch how he gets sidetracked looking at his reflection in the pieces....(camera zooms in)....see how he makes funny faces at the pieces to see how goofy his distorted reflection looks...

......FROOOSH!!!.........

(camera fades to the calendar as Ol' John looks up) 2010!!!! How in the heck did that happen??!?!?!???

Where did the time go??

Bobby

Bobby, you're right. I've been reading one of those "power of positive thinkin" books and I just got carried away. It's easy to think positively when someone else has to do all the work. Shoot, by 2010 John will be tired of the yet-to-be-installed Jag IFS and be looking for a Pacer or Corvair donor!

Just kiddin' John...now get back to bakin' cookies!

Bobby...

I've got your FROOSH right here !!!!! I'll commit to no schedule. I'll drive no truck before it's time... or before I have time... or run out of time... or somethin like that.

Moving steadily toward paint on frame.. now my painter is pushing me !! Got to finish smoothing up the rear end and I'll be ready.. I'm running out of weather quickly. Last week in the 40-60s ...we've got tornado warnings out tonight. Alabama, if you don't like the weather wait a minute !

As for the cost questions, I didn't compare color to chrome... didn't matter I wanted chrome. cost per piece was

Spring 45.00 each
UCA 45.00 each
LCA 30.00 each

there was no 'powder' charge since it is a stock color for them.

As for the flex questions, I found out the same as Doug and Kusto. It flexes.

later
