I have been looking at the videos of these things and they seem like fun. There is a company that will custom make them and with the 302 it runs like 12.8's Just curious on what you think of these little street monsters.
I saw an article on this years (10?) ago in Car and Driver. They used the Mustang 302 and trans, and a T bird irs diff. One issue was the 3.73s in the Tbird axle were a little short due to the shorter tires....

In the early 90's my stepdad pciked up a 79 Mazda RX7 with a rotary engine. He moved the fire wall back and put in a 305. That thing was down right scarry. If you barely touched the gas the rear end would want to come around on you. My mom made him sell it but that thing was wicked fast.
