anyone running the edge evolution that has the DP tunes on it. im wondering how it compares to the regular DP tuner chip and the TW. Price not being a factor. i realize the edge is like $500 plus tunes and a regular DP or a TW can be had cheaper.
My experiences with the Edge EVO tuner with Jody's tunes is that they work. Their only draw back is that they can only hold 3 tunes where Jody's tuner can hold up to 16 tunes. Plus the Edge is over priced. You can get a 3 position chip for $275 I believe.
Seems your right. last I heard they could only hold three of jody's tunes. Irregardless, why not get something from Jody that is adjustable on the fly?

I have the Edge EVO too, and I was thinking about doing the same, but the kicker is that it sure is a pain in the @$$ when you want to change, 20 minutes to reprogram, KRIKE...
Jody's tuners are adjustable on the fly. None of this 20minute upload crap. I can change a tune in my truck in about a 1/4 of a sec on the fly My vote goes for Dp-Tuner
well here is my thinking. first i would like the stealth of having the edge box in my truck. people would think it is just another edge programmer and not know it has custom tunes on it. plus it can be unplugged and put in the glove box then they dont know you have anything. if you have a tw or regular dp people are gonna know ya got something custom. also i like that the edge just plugs in under the dash. ive heard too many reports of chips causing problms with ecm's. even my local diesel guru advises against them. and this holds true on gassers and diesels. the contacts on the chips can get loose and short out frying your ecm. ive had a superchip in a gasser before and they tell you to duct tape the thing in place. i know im gonna get a bunch of yall telling me this aint true but i dont wanna chance it when there is a way to avoid the possability of a problem.
Pragrammers have their downfall too. They can commonly lock up and even lose your stock programming then you have to have edge send you stuff to fix it. Never had issues with the chip comming out of the pcm but I did have a programming issue that made my truck a bear to start. But it wasnt the chip itself causing that it was in the programming.
You will end up paying $400 for the edge plus 3-4 custom tunes at $75 a pop. I have my chip switch hidden under the dash and can switch settings on the fly.

see, i had just the oppositte happen frequently. at the dealer i hated trucks with a physical "chip" such as DP or TW. they were always having problems and i didnt get paid to figure them out. if the idiots were dumb enough to let the truck get towed in with a programmer i became the *** and since i couldnt communicate with any chip installed properly i would just flash over their programmer and delete it.
of course this was only to the arrogant evil customers who thought everything was under warrenty and made that clear up front to me......long stories.
the customers who actually treated me like a real person got my undevided attention to fix there truck and IF possible, get it covered if i could prove that a chip had nothing to do with the problem, that was frequent of 7.3 customers, not so much with the 6.0 guys. for some reason the 6.0 owners up here thought they were god and i had to drop everything and fix their truck right now, work late, come in early, get it covered under warrenty and lie about the chip, stacks, lift kit, and trailer towing 2 tractors all on the same truck....... you get the idea i'll shut up now
My ford local diesel tech told me they always get 7.3s in with a no start issue and it ended up being the chip causing it. By no means do I still have a warranty @255,000 miles on the clock but I know what your saying about the 6.0 guys. My dads 6.0 had injector issues at 95,000 miles and they had it back to us that same day only $100 for everything. This truck is all stock and there are fewer and fewer diesels out there not modified and these new trucks are breaking cuz of that.
