It won't deaden the noise much but the paint on your hood will thank you for installing the blanket. It really dropped the surface temp on my hood when I installed it.
i don't have one on my 05 either. the other day i was getting my truck towed and the tow truck driver was looking under my hood and said it was a good thing because with them on it, "holds to much heat and eats through alternators". idk anything about that just something i heard.
It's not quite an insulator in that perspective.. It's a chemically bonded something or another that is used as a fire blanket.. The purpose of the hood blanket is to melt into a big puddling gunk of "Goo" and saturates the engine during a fire.. Not only does it work, but it completely ruins the truck lol.. However it does help, when I was a firefighter we ran across a few car fires.. It doesn't completely suppress it just like a fire extinguisher doesnt either.. Depending on the elements at hand, O2, source, etc, the fire can continue regardless of its attempt at suppressing it with the blanket.. However it does keep ALOT of heat inside.. Thats one thick ol blanket, and I can feel the heat after a long run and I pop the hood..
I pulled mine because i did not like how hot it got with normal driving, much less fun driving!

I agree.. Glad I got this aftermarket hood on now so its gone.. That engine bay would get HOT.. Plus I got a hole in the firewall where wiring is routed and I can feel that heat on my legs.. It makes for an uncomfortable drive in the Texas heat..
