I am in the proces of restoring a 66 F-100 with a 352,and have a question on the engine. I have these numbers, C66TE,60900,,and 5H30 on the Pass. head. C6TEG,5H10 on the drivers side hesd. C6Me on the pass. side of the block, and E,21 Dir on the drivers side of the block, and 31 above 352 on the front of the bloock. Also on the dist. C5af, 12/27,B,5HC,and fomoco. I guess what I am wanting to know is are these heads a match or are they parts from a different motor. Also is this just a stock motor or is it maybe a higher HP out of a car(just hoping) because it has flat top pistons, and the fact that the door plate says that it has a 6 Cyl.and new process Trans. I have a 3.54 rearend in it also.I found a 460ci from a 69 that I may build to put in this truck but if the 352 is a good motor I would like to build it let me know any info would be appreciated, because I am at a stand still at this time. Thanks Keith
...and how does this post differ from your original post on this subject? BBT spent a lot of time deciphering all of your components and gives dates, etc. From what it sounds like all of the engine parts are original to the 352, but it is absolutely impossible to know for sure due to Ford's manufacturing procedures and product swapping. You originally said it came with a 352 now you're saying it came with a 6 cylinder. Which is it? Without knowing the complete history of the truck, you'll never know who has done what with the motor.
The 352 is not a bad motor, but it is not the most efficient either if you are trying to maximize power. For a few hundred more you could have a core 390 (same class of engine as the 352) rebuilt and you'll benefit tremendously from the larger bore and longer stroke. The 460 can make tons of power, but will require a lot of retrofitting and diminishes from the truck's stock integrity. Only you know what you really want from the truck.
To all who have spent there time reading my post I apologise for the double post, pretty new to the computer and this forum. As for the 352 being in the truck from begining, that was a mistake on my behalf, just trying to hurry and had 352ci on my mind as I have been ordering parts all day. Again I apologise for the double post and wish wou all good motoring,KJRf100
