hi all I have a 1975 f250 4x4 with a 360 and automatic tranny my question is how hard is it to switch out the 360 and replace it with a 460 i know advanced adaptors makes adaptors for the engine mounts but what about the tranny will the 460 bolt right up or do i have to have adaptors for it also any suggestions would be very helpful thanks
the problem with replacing the tranny is its a automatic with a divorced np205 the tranny is a c6 but its really short can i still use the automatic tranny even though its from a 460 family
Larbuck, hold on a minute here, why would you want to do this? The 360 might need some help, but a 460 would require a new trans as well, and they are heavy! How about considering a 390 as a replacement? A healthy 390 will have more than enough power, and is a simple drop in replacement for your 360, and, it is the right thing to do. DF
I struggled with this issue and finally decided to upgrade to the 390 rather than *******izing my '68 truck with the 460. My 390 makes tons of power and, like DF said is "right." If you insist on installing the 460, you're probably better off by finding a complete donor truck and harvesting all the items you'll need for the swap. This has got to be the easiest way rather than trying to wing it.
all right you guys talk me into it ill keep the automatic and find me a 390 after reading some orther post it seem like to much of a pain in the a** espically with the divorced t-case thanks for helping me make up my mind
