Do two wrong parts make a right?

Well my big 400 build plans were foiled by a ruined block...and crank that can no longer be turned. However I found one last night that couldn't be turned down.

Looks like a full build done on it and then never ran. Says it was 10 years ago..put in it..rolled the truck after 1000 miles. Took it all apart and that looks to be true. ( perfect cylinders, assembly lube still on cam lobes etc etc)... Problem is I can tell little about it. It's done 30 over as per the pistons...but they are dished so I couldn't tell ya what the compression will end up being. Although buddy was convinced it was a 78...block is dated 74 and heads 75....so who knows. Measured stroke..at least I am sure it's a 400 so far.

Had all the fancy on it..alum valve covers, a single plane intake, had a huge 800 double pumper on it ( I told him to keep that and his crappy accell wires and coil) Headers and from what I am told a huge cam. We ripped it down to check it out before I tossed out the $700 he wanted for it ( down from a $1000 so that isn't too bad)...but it all looks useable as is. Likely throw a complete new gasket set in her..and let it go at that.

As this will end up in a 4x4, C6 with D60's, 5.38's and a set of 41's.....I was thinking more dual plane, 670 cfm and a dual energy cam would more fit my needs.....otherwise I may have to run a high stall just to get it moving?

Any opinions?

Stock type dished pistons will probably run about 8:1 compression. That will run great on reg gas. With the big tires and that diff gear it will not be a highway cruiser.

Manifold is one that I figure is no longer made..as I cannot find any info about it. It's a Holley Steet Dominator. 701R20 OR 300- 20 are the only numbers I can find on it on the under side.

As for the cam..I plan on pulling it out sunday to see if there are any numbers on it as I have no idea what it may be either.Going to pull the bottom out of her too and make sure it's all good.

Likely as money is a little tight..I will just re gasket her and throw it in..hope it all work out well.

This is Holleys' write up on the manifold.
Holley Street Dominator Manifolds - Single Plane
Holley single plane Street Dominator manifolds have been calibrated to improve engine efficiency from idle up to 6000 RPM. Combining sophisticated design and engineering techniques with countless hours of dyno testing, Holley engineers were able to all but eliminate the low-speed disadvantage normally associated with single plane manifold designs. The runners of each Holley Street Dominator manifold were ideally configured in size, length and profile and then topped with a high volume plenum that made the whole combination work to produce the best power output for street use on stock or mildly modified stock engines, with or without headers.
