I am coming up on 15,000 miles, so I need to change my fuel filters. I am just curious where to get them? What are the part numbers? What should they cost? Do I need any special tools?
Sorry for all the questions, I was just at Wal-Mart and they didn't have the little book with the codes in them, so I though I would ask the experts! TIA!
bismic....thank you very much! All I need to do is get that one motorcraft part number, and it will have both filters in it? One for the frame, and one for topside?
Save yourself money and buy them (a kit) from International. I priced them from ford to be $50 or more, and $35 from International. Yes the one part number included both, plus o-rings.
I buy my fuel filters from Santex in San Antonio (order by phone and have them shipped). They are pretty cheap there. They have a web site but no on-line ordering. If you specify either the C92 OR C93 along w/ the IH 1847170 number, you will get BOTH filters. I believe you will get both when buying the FD-4604 as well. It was over a year ago since I bought from Ford. Haven't seen these at our Wal Mart yet.
Thanks guys for all the help! I have worked on all my vehicles in the past, but this is my first diesel and I don't want to screw things up. Thanks again!
I Get mine from IH 24.00 out the door. Be sure and check the condition of the filter you take out. I have to change mine @ 10K miles the primary is fine but the secondary wouldn't make it another 5K miles.

So when I go to IH, I specify 1847170 C92 and I should get what I need? I know, I know, "newbie"
You should that is the part number I gave them, also told them it was for a 6.0L. They knew exactly what I was talking about. Even the upgraded plug, but didn't have it in stock.
C93 is the new part # just give them that and you will be set thats both filters and orings. Be sure it's a IH truck dealer not a Case IH tractor dealer. While your there check on the price oil filter my dealer sells them cheaper then walmart. unless your getting them at pep boys.

IH part #'s the "C" means change number. They did this years ago to save changing the complete number for a minor part change. Whether it be a small document change or a change in the part itself.
Alright guys, I just got back from my International dealer (this is the 3rd time I have been there, and everytime I go the guy acts like I fell off my rocker when I tell him what I want.) Anyways, I got part number 1874170 C92, which is what is on the list of part numbers from above, but the description says "Oil Filter Element". There are 2 filter elements in the box, 1 is about 2 1/2" in diameter and about 2 3/4" in length. The second is about 3 1/4" in diameter, and 3 1/2" long. It also came with the o-ring kit. Both are basically just a filter element, without the shell, like the oil filter. Does all that sound right? This is the first time I have done this on my truck, so I am not sure what they are supposed to look like, and this guy doesn't really tip my "Confidence Scale". Thanks!
