I need to do some pin point electrical tests on a '90 Bronco II. I do not have a break out box and cannot locate anywhere that actually lists the connector by pin number. Anyone know where I can find this ??
Which circuit are you looking for? The wiring diagrams in Chiltons (see electronic version in the vehicle repair guides at www.autozone.com) show most of the pin assignments fairly reliably.
The only other place I've seen good pin assignment charts/diagrams have been in professional repair manuals at the library. I haven't seen any posted on the internet.
I need to do pin point tests on the 3-4 transmission shift selenoid circuit. I am looking for #40, #46, and #60
I just overhauled the A4LD, put it back in, worked just fine (25 mile stop and go test drive) The next day I get in it and it dosn't shift. In D4, the trans takes off in 2nd gear and never shifts. In D3, the trans takes off in 1st gear and never shifts. From D3, I can move the shifter to 2nd and it will shift to 2nd. According to Ford's A4LD book, the probable cause is this selenoid/circuit. I have replaced the selenoid with no change. If electrical checks out my next move is to replace the valve body.
I am wide open to suggestions if there are any transmission pro's out there.
My experience has been that the wiring diagrams in Chiltons will be adequate for that circuit.
However, the 3-4 shift solenoid circuit only effects the shift from 3 to 4. It has nothing to do with starting out in 1st or 2nd or have any effect on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
When you overhauled, did you replace the vacuum modulator? That's what controls the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Of course, there are any number of other internal faults that could cause this.
I replaced the modulator valve with a new one. The old one was sucking fluid into the vacuum line. I had a code 86 which is with 3-4 shift circuit failure. One of the pages that came with the overhaul kit had mentioned that a faulty 3-4 seleniod would cause the trans to start in 2nd gear in D4 and 1st gerar in D3. but I am baffled why it just stopped all automatic shifts ????????
I bought this thing with a bad trans. forward clutch was fried. I have no previous history with this thing as to what it did, or was doing. I can tell that the trans had been apart before.
