Forgive me, but I am new to all this and have a lot to learn. The good thing is, I am willing to learn! Now I have read thread appon thread on this subject. I can't believe how much information is in the web site! I am so impressed and I love it! :7
I have a '76 390 and am interested in upgrading my ignition. My question is, do I have what everyone is calling a Dura-Spark ignition? How do I tell if I do? If I do have a Dura-Spark ignition I believe then I have an electronic ignition. I can see everyone loves the Pertronix kit they have used. I also am looking into this kit, but do I need it if I have the Dura-Spark ignition? Would I bennifit from this Pertronix kit?
The Pertronix is an electronic module that is merely a direct replacement for standard points. Pop your distributor cap and look inside. If you have points then you don't have electronic ignition and the Pertronix will benefit you.
