Summit Racing Has A Wiring Harness And Fuse Box That Works For These Trucks I Put One In My 85 It Was Very Easy To Do And I Paid Like 260 For All Of It I Will Look At My Reciepts Later And Get The Exact Total I Paid And The Part Number For You
Painless and Ron Francis have complete wiring harnesses for your ford, but they're gonna run about $450-$500. I bought a EZ2Wire universal 20-circuit harness off ebay for $150 shipped after searching the electrical forums here. Lots of good info on the pros & cons of each.
I used one of those 20 circuit EZ-Harnesses from ebay myself on an old '63 Chevy. It was surprisingly simple to install on that truck, but then again it didn't really have a whole lot that needed wires.
On my '85 F-150, there are a LOT of wires going everywhere. Granted, not all of them are absolutely necissary, but I would imagine rewiring the entire truck would probably be a very time-consuming task.
Another place you might look would be LMC Truck. I've seen complete wiring kits for other vehicles available through them, but haven't looked for that year of Ford truck.
I am looking for a wiring diagram for a ford vehicle before they put all that electronic junk on them.
Can anyone help me with this?
I am new to ford trucks and would appreciate any help, I can't afford a new harness and want to get rid of all that electronic stuff.
go to a junkyard and find one not all chopped up. the 2 trucks I am scrapping (which wont help you at all) I pull the harnesses off in complete zones and they sell at swap meets (I ask $35 per zone and painless gets a couple hundred - but my used product is a drop in...)
QuadDriver, thnks a lot buddy for the info. I plan to go to a scrap metal place tomorrow that may have an earlier model pickup. I will see if they will let me have the harness.
I visited these guys Sat. but they were about to close and told me to come back Monday. I think I may get some parts for just taking them off.
I am now looking for information on the Ford 351 engines.
Will the distributors interchange on the various engine, 351C, 351M, 351W?
I am trying to find a distributor with points for my 351W engine.
To get rid of the electronic ignition components I will need a new coil, but will I also
need a voltage regulator?
any ideas here?
I am new to this site and have only posted once, I need to get more involved and I am
trying to. Please be patient.
