Advise please?

Just wondering if I could get a couple of educated opoinions on what my truck might be worth? I am thinking about selling it, and downsizing to a regular cab. I have pictures and info in my gallery. Don't know the milage exactly, but it sure runs like a lower milage truck. there is a little surface rust over rear tire fenders on both sides, and one spot the size of a pea starting on passenger front fender. Other than that it is pretty solid for a 22 year old truck. The bfg tires have less than one thousand miles on them. to many new parts to list. I know its only worth what one man is willing to pay,but I would still like to get your opoinions. THANKS

crew cabs are very desirable, it took a while to find mine with a diesel. your truck looks in very nice shape to me...

I think I would start it in the $5000 range. price seams to vary with location though.

Just to give the online book value, Edmunds does go back to 85. I plugged in the description, figured 100,000 miles and the options I thought the truck would have and chose the clean vehicle option. Private party selling price at the top end was under $2,000.

Kelley blue book and NADA only go back to 87. The 87 top price, with options, around $3,000.

Personally, assuming the truck was in fairly decent mechanical condition (as in, could I fly there and drive it back to Utah without breaking down) I'd go up to $3,500. But thats just me.

I was going to buy an 89 crew last month, in about the same condition, duel wheel, turbo, gear vendor OD for $1,800. It had an electrical problem the guy could not figure out but it did run good. His son decided he wanted the truck so I lost out.

I am still looking for a good, clean super or crew to swap in my cummins drive train. I only care about the body and interior though

Thanks for the opoinions so far. I was offered $5000 for it several months ago by a guy at the fuel station, but I was not intending to sell it then. I have over $7000 in it so far, I know you never get back what you spend on one, but I don't think I could let it go for less than $5000. I'm thinking of running it on ebay just to see what it may bring. I know a guy that has a 97 f250 powerstroke for sale that I would like to have and I don't want to borrow any more money than I have to. It is hard to make up my mind though, I already know I have a good truck, and its so hard to start over again with another used one. any other opoinions would be appreciated. THANKS again

Personally, I wouldn't sell it. Thats a very nice truck, and if its served you well, keep it. I don't think very highly of the powerstrokes either, overall a good engine, but when things go wrong, it will cost a lot more than on an IDI.

If you want better economy, put a 5speed in and put the stock size tires back on.

But if you really want to get rid of it, I argee with a $5000 starting point if the interior is as clean as the outside.

David85, Thanks for the comments. The interior is perfect except for the rear door panels, can not find replacements anywhere. I would love to put a 5speed in,but the 4speed was put in brand new before I bought it. The only reason I would want to sell it is to get a regular cab, This thing is to long to fit on most of the trails I like to cruise on. It also has the turning radius of a school bus. I have got used to it, but if my wife ever had to drive it, get off the streets.lol

These trucks aren't something can a person can go off of NADA. I know the books don't give them much value but they are worth alot considering the price of a new one.

I only put the book values in for information. I'd give my dad 5 grand for his 87' with no hesitation.

There are some real good automotive buys across the country. Seems like the best ones come around when you aren't looking or have no need.

To give an idea! September 06', I bought a 97, 3/4, 4x4, supercab, shortbed, big big block, auto. High back buckets, arm rests, 64,000 miles, dealer installed running boards, bed liner, grill guard, bed rails. Almost perfect condition. The worst thing wrong was the old guy had spilled what looked like a large cup of some kind of fancy coffee and didn't clean it up very well. I paid just what he asked....$6,000! I was not even considering another vehicle at the time.

Once again thanks for the opoinions, I have decided to keep the truck. I am going to stick with the idi and forget about the powerstroke. I think I will get the banks sidewinder kit for mine sometime next spring, and hopefully that will kill the (I want a newer truck bug) thats been eating at me.
